DroidDeck compatible devices: what runs it (and what doesn’t)
DroidDeck has one of the strictest hardware gates of any Android PC-gaming tool. Here is the whole rule in one sentence, then the details device by device.
The quick answer
Android 9 or newer, a Snapdragon chip, and Adreno 730 or newer graphics (or any Adreno 8xx) — no root needed. Everything else falls into two buckets: Adreno 6xx is experimental, and Mali, Xclipse, PowerVR and Adreno 710 are unsupported.
The GPU tiers, straight from the official docs
DroidDeck’s requirements are built around the Adreno GPU in your device — that is the single deciding factor:
| GPU family | Typical chips | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Adreno 730 or newer, or 8xx Full support per the official README. Android 9+ required. | Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 / Gen 2 / Gen 3, 8 Elite and similar flagship chips | Supported |
| Adreno 6xx DirectX 11 games may run through DXVK 2. DirectX 12 games can still crash. | Snapdragon 855 – 888 era devices | Experimental |
| Adreno 710 Listed as unsupported in the official README. | Some mid-range Snapdragon 6 / 7s series chips | Unsupported |
| Mali Listed as unsupported in the official README. | Many MediaTek Dimensity and older Exynos devices | Unsupported |
| Xclipse Listed as unsupported in the official README. | Exynos 2200 / 2400 (AMD RDNA-based) | Unsupported |
| PowerVR Listed as unsupported in the official README. | Imagination-based SoCs in older or budget devices | Unsupported |
Handhelds the community is running it on
The first wave of coverage centered on Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 handhelds — all of these have an Adreno 740, comfortably above the bar. Status below reflects what the community is reporting, not a guarantee from the project.
Ayn Odin 2
Widely reported workingSnapdragon 8 Gen 2 / Adreno 740
The most frequently shown device in early community videos and posts.
Retroid Pocket 5
Widely reported workingSnapdragon 8 Gen 2 / Adreno 740
Frequently covered by handheld-focused channels during the October 2026 launch wave.
Ayaneo Pocket S
Widely reported workingSnapdragon 8 Gen 2 / Adreno 740
Another 8 Gen 2 handheld appearing in early first-look coverage.
Ayn Thor
Meets requirementsSnapdragon 8 Gen 2 / Adreno 740
Base, Pro and Max models use the 8 Gen 2 (Adreno 740), which meets the bar. The Lite model uses a Snapdragon 865 — below the requirement.
Phones: same rule, one big caveat
Flagship Snapdragon phones from the 8 Gen 1 era onward meet the requirement just like handhelds do — the app runs the same. But there is a trap with phones that doesn’t exist in the handheld world: the same model name can ship with different chips. Samsung’s Galaxy S-series, for example, uses Snapdragon in some regions and Exynos in others — and Exynos chips carry Xclipse GPUs, which are unsupported. The model name alone tells you nothing; check the chip.
How to check your own device
- Find your chip. Settings → About phone → hardware/processor info, or a device-info app.
- Map the chip to its GPU. Common examples: Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 → Adreno 730, 8+ Gen 1 → Adreno 730, 8 Gen 2 → Adreno 740, 8 Gen 3 → Adreno 750, 8 Elite → Adreno 830. Older: Snapdragon 888 → Adreno 660 (experimental tier).
- Compare to the bar. Adreno 730 or newer, or any 8xx: you’re in. Adreno 6xx: experimental. Everything else: unsupported.
If you clear the bar, head to the install guide. If you don’t, Winlator is the alternative that runs on a wider range of hardware.
Frequently asked questions
Will DroidDeck run on my Samsung Galaxy? +
It depends which chip your model shipped with. Snapdragon versions (many S22/S23/S24 units in some regions) meet the GPU requirement; Exynos versions use Xclipse graphics, which are unsupported. Check your exact chip before installing.
Does DroidDeck work on MediaTek devices? +
No. MediaTek chips typically use Mali or PowerVR graphics, both listed as unsupported in the official README.
My phone has a Snapdragon 888 — does it work? +
That chip uses an Adreno 660, which falls in the experimental Adreno 6xx tier: DirectX 11 games may run through DXVK 2, but DirectX 12 games can still crash. Treat it as a try-it-and-see device rather than a daily driver.
Do phones work, or only gaming handhelds? +
Both, with the same requirements: Android 9+ and a Snapdragon chip with Adreno 730+ or 8xx graphics. Handhelds just have built-in controls.
How do I find my exact GPU? +
Find your chip model first (Settings, About phone, or a device-info app), then map it: Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 uses an Adreno 730, 8 Gen 2 uses an Adreno 740, 8 Gen 3 uses an Adreno 750, and 8 Elite uses an Adreno 830. Anything 730 or newer (or any 8xx) meets the bar.
