The current wave: DroidDeck

DroidDeck is a free, open-source app that brings the SteamOS experience to Android: Valve’s Steam client in Big Picture mode, running natively on your device — no streaming, no PC required. Windows games run through Valve’s ARM64 Proton build, translated by FEX-Emu, on the Adreno GPU already in your handheld.

It arrived fast. The project surfaced publicly in late September 2026, and by mid-October the project was already shipping v0.4.0 — four releases in ten days — with a growing list of community-verified devices and a Discord full of device reports.

The catch is hardware: DroidDeck needs a Snapdragon chip with Adreno 730 or newer graphics, which rules out most devices older than the 2021 flagship era. If yours qualifies, the payoff is your actual Steam library in your pocket — cloud saves, achievements and Big Picture on a handheld.

Check whether your device can run it, then follow the install guide.

How this site works

Sourced, not vibes

Every guide lists its sources — official documentation, release notes and community reports. Where we haven’t verified something on hardware, we say so instead of pretending.

Version-tracked

DroidDeck shipped four versions in ten days. Pages carry an update stamp and get re-checked whenever a new release lands.

Independent

We’re not the DroidDeck team, we don’t host downloads, and there are no fake buttons. Official links only.

Frequently asked questions

What is DroidDeck? +

DroidDeck is a free, open-source (GPL-3.0) app that runs Valve's official Steam client in Big Picture mode on Android devices, with Windows games running through Valve's ARM64 Proton. It is not a streaming app — games run on the device itself.

Is DroidDeck free? +

Yes. DroidDeck is free and open source under the GPL-3.0 license. It is not affiliated with Valve.

Which devices can run DroidDeck? +

Android 9 or newer with a Snapdragon chip and an Adreno 730 or newer GPU (or any Adreno 8xx). Adreno 6xx is experimental, and Mali, Xclipse, PowerVR and Adreno 710 are unsupported. See our compatible devices page for the full breakdown.

Where should I download DroidDeck? +

Only from the official GitHub releases. The project has no official website and warns users not to trust download links from other sites. We don't host APK files — every download link on this site points to the official repository.

Does DroidDeck need root? +

No. DroidDeck runs without root on supported devices.

Is DroidDeck the same as Steam Link? +

No. Steam Link streams games from a PC over your network; DroidDeck runs the Steam client and games locally on the Android device, fully offline once games are installed.
